MY REVIEW

From the very beginning, Nine puts me on edge and indoctrinated me into the harsh and brutal life Nine, aka Kevin Clearwater, is surviving through.

You need a lot of fight to survive and he has it in spades. That doesn’t mean that despair isn’t lingering all around.

One night, when despair is at its speak, he meets a kindred soul. An instant and powerful connection is formed but is all too quickly severed.

After that day, Nine, lives his life but never forgets that once in a lifetime moment. Does he have a chance at a HEA? Or, has that one chance already been taken from him?

A page-turning read that gripped me with an intense amount of suspense from beginning to end.

I enjoyed and was enthralled by Nine’s story but I wanted the author to explore Nine’s issues more. I wanted him to be able to face his issues and for him to somewhat heal from his past trauma. I also wanted Lenny to be part of his recovery.

Aside from that, I fell hard for Nine. Strong, resilient and passionate but also in his own way, vulnerable.

I'm nor sure how to feel about Lenny's character. I did not see the strength or the growth in her I wanted and needed to see. Her crutch for her anxiety never wavered. I did not have any issue with her anxiety simply the way she dealt with it. Because she never truly found a good coping mechanism for it, it made her character seem weak. That feeling stays with me even now.

These two together, however, worked for me. I could see how they fit and I could believe in their relationship. All I really wanted for them was to completely confide in each other and to heal and move forward from past traumas together.

This was filled with page-turning suspense and I would love another book with this couple. There’s still so much there to be explored with them and I honestly loved them together.

EXCERPT

I look up into his dark eyes. “This is a dangerous game of cat and mouse we’re playing.”

“More like a game of cat and bird,” he corrects.

I straighten my posture, my nipples grazing his hard chest. “And we all know how that turns out in the end. The cat eats the bird.”

Nine lightly scrapes his nails over my bare arms before pressing them into my skin. I gasp at the slight bite of pain. “No, the pretty bird swoops down from nowhere and sinks her sharp talons into the cat, marking him for life.”

There’s no sarcasm in his voice. I don’t know how to begin to process what it is he’s saying. It takes all of my concentration to get out my next few words.

“And...and then what?”

Nine picks me up off the floor in one quick motion, flipping me back onto the bed. He crawls over my body, hovering above me, pinning my wrists to the mattress. He grazes his teeth over the sensitive spot behind my ear.  He lowers his voice to a deliciously deep rumble that has me vibrating with his every word.

“And then he eats her.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier never dreamed that a single person would ever read a word she wrote when she published her first book. Now, she is a five-time USA Today bestselling author and her books have been translated into numerous languages and published all around the world.

T.M. enjoys writing what she calls sexy wrongside of the tracks romance’ with morally corrupt anti-heroes and ballsy heroines.

Her books have been described as raw, dark and gritty. Basically, what that means, is while some authors are great at describing a flower as it blooms, T.M. is better at describing it in the final stages of decay.

She loves meeting her readers, but if you see her at an event please don’t pinch her because she's not ready to wake up from this amazing dream.
