My Review

I love this series so far and make no qualms about it.  There’s heart pumping action and undeniable passion.

As much as I love this series, however, I must admit that this one missed the mark with me.  The action and passion were ever present, but there was not enough story to actually sink my teeth into.  The plot itself only advanced marginally leaving me feeling like the book was one long scene that lead to a cliff-hanger.  I also thought this story would have been about the last cliff-hanger which was HUGE, but it only glossed over it like it wasn’t as big of a deal as it was.  This book, in my opinion, added nothing extra to the overall plot in the series.

I did love getting a glimpse into who Carina and Mateo could’ve been had they not had such upbringings.  Their walls are slowly crumbling and I’m wondering who and what they are going to be when there is nothing left to hide behind.

I’m on tenterhooks to see how dark Mateo really is.  The previous books have been hinting at that darkness but I don’t think we have fully seen or experienced it yet.  I’m hoping in the next installment, that we will get a taste and that we will see where this series is ultimately leading...  We have two ultimate killing machines that would do anything for each other.  This could get interesting!

I am confident that the next installment will satiate my hunger for more in this exciting and captivating series.

Look at me. I want you to see how much I want you.” Their gazes stayed locked, and her breath caught at the intensity in his expression. “You’re beautiful, Brea. Inside and out.” He dipped his head to kiss her lightly. To her disappointment he didn’t deepen it, and instead ended it far too soon. “Whatever happened to you doesn’t shape who you are as a person. It might control you temporarily, but inside, under all that hurt and pain, is the real you just waiting to be awakened.”

The way he talked, so passionately, led Brea to believe that maybe he was referring to himself instead of her. She would like to believe what he’d said, but there was a part of her that knew she might be broken, that maybe she’d never be able to be whole again.

Not thinking, just needing to feel him, Brea closed the distance that separated them and kissed him with as much passion as she felt for him. His grunt of surprise spurred her on. Her clit throbbed, and her pussy ached to be filled.

She slid her hand back, along his muscular thigh, and when she reached the hard, thick length of his erection straining against the material, an involuntary moan left her. As if that sound broke him, Adrian gripped her shoulders and pulled her impossibly close.

My Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’m unsure what I think of this book. On the one hand, it’s extremely well written and the passion and feels I expect from this author are out in full force. On the other hand, the story left me wanting. I feel like this story is incomplete and that it has yet to really begin.

Sebastian Black is dark and brooding. He has wanted Chloe Rose forever but due to his connections, stays far away.

Chloe Rose is gentle, caring and an emotional wreck after hearing the rape and murder of her mother.

With Chloe so close to unraveling, Sebastian has a choice. To help Chloe through her struggles, claiming her as his own while risking her life. Or, let her be and watch the only woman he ever loved destroy herself.

This was an engaging and passionate read.

I loved the first kiss between our main characters and absolutely adored Sebastian and all his roughness. The motives that propelled him however are unclear.

I’m disappointed that Sebastian never shares his secrets with Chloe and that they both did not come to terms with or face their issues.

Chloe’s character development was not what I was expecting. I thought by the end of the book, she would have gained her own strength and been able to stand on her own. In my opinion, she is reliant on him more than ever.

I’m hoping there is a follow up novel for these two because I really wanted to love this story. The way it stands now, their story, for me, is incomplete.
