Can she make it through the night obedient to her Master or will she forever be changed from one forbidden encounter?

MY REVIEW

Wow, Breaking all the Rules was really bite-sized in length. As result, I didn't really get a feel for the main characters Caroline and Derrick.

The few things I did notice are that Caroline sounds very young and vain. I had a hard time connecting with her character. Although she is submissive, she comes off as a dominant. The way she acts during sex is also aggressive and dominant. I am not well versed in the D/s lifestyle but I truly don't think a true submissive would act the way she does.

Master Derrick, we don't really get to know at all in this book.

The interaction between this Master and sub strikes me as odd as their respective roles seem reversed. Derrick does not come off as the Dominant man he claims to be in either word or action while submissive Caroline takes the lead in their sexual encounter.

The story line and the writing are ok. I am still interested in finding out more about this couple and where they as well as the story line are headed. I am planning to read the second installment Pleasure & Punishments.

I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Pleasures and Punishment is the second installment of the Breaking Rules Series! Check out book one, Breaking All the Rules, available for just 99 cents!

From treasured to trashed…

Imprisoned by Master Ben and serving out her punishment for betraying him, Caroline is now a pleasure slave. Hours turn to days. Days turn to weeks. It seems like her torment will never end. That is, until Caroline discovers Master is getting rid of her, and each session is an audition for a potential new owner.

Caroline must impress the visiting Masters so they will free her from Master Ben’s wrath. Things get really interesting when Derrick, the one who she betrayed her Master for, shows up as one of the interested suitors! Caroline’s hopes are quickly shattered when she learns that Derrick’s biggest competition for ownership of her is none other than the sadistic and cruel Blue-Eyed Devil himself, Carson, Master’s long-time friend.

Her pleasures are laced with her pains. Will she be able to endure any more punishments at the hands of her Master? Better yet, can Derrick help Caroline gain her freedom without exposing their dirty little secret?

This is a dark, short series which dabbles in BDSM and ends with a HEA.

MY REVIEW

I enjoyed this second installment much more than the first. It is darker and had a couple of scenes that had me excited and at the edge of my seat.

I got more understanding of Caroline's character but still don't agree that she is a submissive, regardless of her upbringing. She is the most non-submissive I've ever met.

Master Ben's character still confuses me. I don't understand why he became the way he is or why Caroline was so special to him.

I would have loved more interaction between the women to support their friendship.

I am also left wondering about Master Derrick. Is he a true Dom? If so, his actions do not support it.

The relationship between Derrick and Caroline was sweet but felt a little forced due to the length constraint of the book.

I wanted to love this book. Overall, the series itself is intriguing but it's not what I was expecting. I'm not sure if this is my error or if the book is marketed incorrectly. I was expecting the trials and tribulations of love in a D/s relationship. Instead it was about the survival and escape of a sexual slave.

Recommended to those who love a quick, dark and dirty read where character development may be a little less fleshed out.

I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I'm a young author from Chicago, I'm hoping to bring some new heat and sizzle to the romance genre.

My favorite genres are paranormal and dark romance. I love reading a good book but I'm so busy in life that I only get to enjoy audio books. Its the only way I can get lost in a good book nowadays. And you know what? I half prefer an audio book over print any day! I have a long standing membership at Audible.com and I plan to publish audio books for busy bookworms like myself! Yay!

My love of writing started when a friend of mine encouraged me to write a short story and just see what happens. Turns out I had a knack for writing because everyone loved my short stories. From then on I have worked on improving my craft. Growing  from flash fictions to novellas. I am really looking forward to sharing all the twisty goodness I have planned!

Thank you & Much love and Sizzle!

REVIEW

Can I take a moment to scream? This book ends on one helluva cliffhanger! GAH!!!!

As teenagers, Julian (JD) and Gabrielle had a searing and passionate romance. Not to mention a once in a lifetime love. All that comes to a halt when Julian turns her world upside down and then, she is sent away.

Years later Julian shows up at her workplace and threatens to turn her world upside down yet again.

With her walls crumbling and glimpses of the Julian she once knew, will she be willing to give Julian a second chance at rekindling their once in a lifetime love? Or, will it all go up in smoke..

Depraved is a sexy and steamy read with an intriguing mystery weaved in but it wasn’t as dark as I thought it would be.

The mystery, for me, was the best part of this book. It had me at the edge of my seat.

The pace at times was a little slow but there was tons of sensuality to keep me company.

I wanted to believe in Julian and Gabrielle’s reuniting but for me, it seemed a little rushed. For what she had been through, her capitulation to Julian and his demands was a little too quick to be believable. I would have loved to see more “fight” in her character.

JD, was sexy and demanding but also shrouded in mystery. His motives are unclear. I have a feeling he’s hiding his true character.

I’m excited and on edge to see what happens next.

I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

MY REVIEW

4.5 STARS!

Absolutely twisted, intense and compelling this book got my rapt attention, making me feel breathless throughout.

It is a fast-paced read that will consume until the very end.

Gregory Scafoni is twisted after a history of being ignored and the most recent betrayal of his brother and his brother’s Willow girl.

Amelia is a Willow girl but not the sacrificed Willow girl. Can she be the Willow girl for Gregory Scafoni or is that place forever held by another?

I want more! It all went so fast and ended way too quickly. This was a whirlwind of a book.

Gregory and Amelia were on fire! Their need for each other palpable and sexy.

Amelia was a brave woman with spunk and daring. Definitely able to handle Gregory.

Gregory Scafoni bares scars. Scars from a lifetime of being second best or not being in the running at all. For all his darkness, he is loyal and protective not to mention demanding.

This was an enthralling read that was creepy, haunting and oh so sexy. A book that had me glued to my seat until the very end.

I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

EXCERPT

Prologue
Amelia

He says that together they twisted him.
Made him the monster he’s become.
But you can’t become something that wasn’t inside you all along.

A tear drops to the sketchbook on my lap, the blob smearing the lead. I wipe it away with the tip of my finger and watch the stain spread to the edge of the page.

I can’t seem to stop drawing that night.
The night when the Scafoni brothers stalked into our home and we were made to wear those rotting, disgusting sheaths and forced to stand on those ancient blocks as Sebastian Scafoni, first-born bastard, looked us over like we were cattle.

I can’t stop drawing the look on his face when he saw Helena.
Even if she wasn’t bound like she was, she’d have stood out.
She always thought herself the ugly duckling but she’s the most beautiful of all. She’s special. Always was. Different from us. And so much stronger.

Crap.

I swipe the back of my hand across my nose and listen to the sound of tears drop fat and heavy onto the page and this time when I lay my hand on the sketch, it’s to smear the wet across like maybe I can wipe away that night. Rub it off the page. Erase it out of history like it never happened.

“Oh, now look what you’ve done,” he says. His voice is deep and low, and I swear I can feel it as much as hear it.

He takes my hand with his gloved one and pulls it away.

“Ruined it.”

I look at him. I finally make myself look at him.

“I hate you.”

He grins. Shrugs a shoulder, his grip growing infinitesimally harder.
I glance at my palm—it’s black from the pencil—and look down at the page in front of me.

He’s right. It’s ruined.
But it doesn’t matter. I have dozens like it.
Hundreds.
Thousands.

I can’t stop drawing that night.
Can’t stop it from happening.
Can’t stop the Scafoni bastards from walking into our lives, upending everything. Coming into our home like kings, like they owned the place.
Although, I guess they did.
They owned everything. Our house. Our land. Our parents.
My sister.
Me.

I force myself to meet Gregory Scafoni’s dark eyes with their strange turquoise specks and wonder how I’d ever thought he was an angel.
My angel.
My savior.
When all he is, is the devil.

Review: Four Knights in Alaska

Here’s my review for Four Knights in Alaska by
Nyna Toney.  If you love enemies to lovers as well as menage, you’ll want to give this one a look!

Four Knights In Alaska
An Interracial Enemies-Turned-Lovers Menage Romance
Author: Nyna Toney

Just as the Alaskan town of Accokeek is expanding, so too are the aspirations of its entrepreneurs. It takes money to make money, though, and that’s where Yvonna Knightley’s services come in. She’ll gladly loan her clients the money they need provided that they play by her twisted rules.

Falling in line seems like the only option left for three best friends who make the mistake of borrowing from her in the first place until they discover a way to hit her where it hurts. In no time at all, Walter Phelps, Andrew Hamilton, and Paul Fassinger strike up a plan to get even, and, given the injustices suffered in the past, these men aren’t just interested in money for their silence. However, things go awry almost immediately during their four-night rendezvous in a small cabin north of town when Yvonna refuses to make anything easy for them.

With Walter obsessed with doling out his own brand of questionable justice and Andrew thinking that his good looks will do all of the work for him, Paul finds himself constantly wondering if he even has it in him to go far enough to make her change her ways at all. Likewise, it becomes harder and harder for Yvonna to justify her cruelty toward her former clients when they prove to be more human than she had previously given them credit for. The four will discover that they have more in common than they think with each passing day and will find in place of their hatred something entirely new and unexpected.

MY REVIEW

Four Knights in Alaska is a debut novel by Nyna Toney about friendships, forgiveness and change.

Yvonna Knightley is a ruthless loan shark. Lending money to those who have been denied by legal avenues.

She is a hard, take no nonsense woman. She will play you before being played.

This is what she does to three men who have borrowed money from her.

Andrew, Paul and Walter are three men who are tired of being played and toyed with by Yvonna.

When a plan is hatched by the men to force respect and understanding from Yvonna, she may yet teach them some life lessons of their own.

This was an amazing read that I enjoyed from beginning to end. The writing was amazing and flowed well.

It has an original plot and storyline and although this story involves the three men and one woman, I must say, the story didn’t revolve around the sex. Rather a story of vengeance and forgiveness both of oneself and others emerged. A truly remarkable read.

With that being said, I did want more character development. I wanted the author to delve a little deeper into their pasts to explain their behaviour. Especially Yvonna’s. I also would have loved an epilogue. Although it ended with a HEA, it was abrupt and I was invested enough to want a glimpse of their future.

I really loved these characters flaws and all. This book is one to add to your TBR and the author is definitely one to look out for.

I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
