REVIEW: Your Sound

Your Sound
(Sherbrooke Station, #3)
Author: Katia Rose
Pub Date: Dec 1, 2018
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance

Molly Myers is just your average groupie next door.

Literally.

The rock star whose posters cover her bedroom wall is banging her roommate right on the other side of it. Even for Molly, reigning queen of embarrassing moments, the situation is epically awkward. Every thump of the headboard is just one more reminder that the lead singers of famous bands don’t date bumbling shy girls too anxious to leave their own rooms.

JP Bouchard-Guindon wasn’t looking for Molly’s room when he accidentally burst through the door, but the wild-haired girl lying there in her underwear was certainly worth the detour.

As the keyboardist for Montreal’s latest indie rock sensation, JP has met his fair share of fangirls. He’s always ready to throw up some finger guns for a photo. What he’s not ready for is the way skittish, wide-eyed Molly Myers gets stuck inside his head.

A practical joker and a social recluse are the last people anyone expects a connection between. She’s silence aching for a voice, and he’s sound with a craving for quiet. Their differences will either pull them together, or fracture their worlds when they push them apart.

MY REVIEW

Your Sound by Katia Rose is a phenomenal read! It's her best work to date and focuses on finding your true self and your inner strength.

I was completely engrossed in this third installment in the Sherbrooke Station series. It is smart, entertaining and filled with love, family and laugh-out-loud moments.

"There's actually a part of me that wants to be out there, a part of me that's fearless enough to throw my door open and complete the simple task of saying hello,.." - Molly

Molly is somewhat shy and awkward. She has social anxiety and does not have much confidence but, she does have an absolute love of music.

"I don't know what scares me more: the things I feel when I'm with her, or the emptiness that creeps in when I'm not." - JP

JP, is the funny one, the one that no one ever takes seriously.

When JP and Molly meet, they start up a friendship. Both want more but believe they are not good enough for the other.

Will they risk getting hurt for a once in a lifetime love?

I connected with Molly. Although she is shy and awkward, she is also smart and cute. I loved seeing her transformation from shy girl to the woman she becomes.

JP is the sweetest, most romantic character I have come across. The way he helps build up Molly's confidence as well as the friendship he provides is simply beautiful. He is also funny as hell!

This was an extraordinary read. If Katia Rose is not yet on your auto-buy list, she should be.

I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

AUTHOR BIO

Katia Rose is not much of a Pina Colada person, but she does like getting caught in the rain. She prefers her romance served steamy with a side of smart, and is a sucker for quirky characters. A habit of jetting off to distant countries means she’s rarely in one place for very long, but she calls the frigid northland that is Canada home.

EXCERPT

You know what they say: if you don’t have a weird roommate, you are the weird roommate.

I tip the contents of my laundry basket out on my bed and reach to turn up the volume on my speakers. My ‘Putting Clothes Away’ playlist—which features a lot of Adam Levine—is currently blasting out of the surround system. Along with my vintage record player, the speaker set is probably the only thing of value in my tiny, stuffy, and currently sweltering bedroom.

“Try to tell you no, ‘cause I’m busy folding up this dress. Try to tell you stop, ‘cause my laundry is all still a mess.”

The towel starts slipping off my head as I nod along to the beat of my improvised lyrics. I straighten it back in place and glance at the rest of my outfit—a ribbed green tank top, faded pink I’m-Down-To-My-Last-Pair-And-Desperate granny panties, and a Korean cloth face mask complete with nostril holes that makes me look like Voldemort had drunk sex with a mannequin.

Yeah, no way I’m the weird roommate.

REVIEW & BLITZ: Your Rhythm

Your Rhythm
by Katia Rose
(Sherbrooke Station, #1)
Publication date: May 24th 2018
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary,Romance

Synopsis:

You know what they say: save a snare, bang a drummer.

Kay Fischer is well aware of what they say, and she intends to ignore it completely.

After her first step into the world of music journalism ended with a screw-up so royal it deserved a crown, Kay’s been struggling to re-stack the building blocks of her career. Salvation comes in the form of Sherbrooke Station, the latest alt-rock craze to grace Montreal’s legendary music scene.

A front page feature on the band everyone’s talking about seems like a foolproof shot at success, even after Kay meets their drummer. Matt Pearson might have a smile sexy enough to be the eighth deadly sin and a passion for music so powerful it makes her heart ache, but Kay’s got things under control.

She’s a professional, goddammit, and a professional would not get tongue-tied over a source, even a source who’s a six-foot, tattooed rock god with an affinity for tight jeans.

A professional would not find herself opening her door at an hour long past midnight to pull said source inside and lead him to her bed.

No, that’s not at all what a professional would do.

Matt’s still propped against the edge of the bar when I reach him. The crowd is thinner over here and I get a good look at him from a few feet away: sandy undercut hair and an angular face, softened by full lips and just the right amount of stubble. He’s got the perfect features to pull off his eyebrow piercing, and while they’re currently covered by a navy blue coat, all my internet stalking has proved he’s got the perfect arms to pull off the collection of tattoos on both.

Eric the Surfer might have been hot in a general sense, but Matt Pearson is one hundred percent my type.

Did I just admit someone in Sherbrooke Station is my type?

“Hey,” I call sharply, hoping I can help myself deny that little revelation by acting annoyed with him. “Giving up that easy?”

He gives me a cautious glance and then shifts his eyes from side to side, like he’s making sure I’m really talking to him.

“On looking for me,” I elaborate. “I’m Kay Fischer.”

Now his dark eyes travel up and down the length of me in a completely unapologetic stare. He smirks when they reach mine again.

MY REVIEW ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kay Fischer is a journalist and writes the Arts and Culture section for the Montreal newspaper La Gare.  This is not where or how she saw her journalistic dreams going but after a career crushing stunt, she will take what she can get.  She also now follows 2 rules she set for herself.

1.         Don’t mess with Atlas Records and
2.         Never date or sleep with a source.

Matt Pearson is the drummer for Sherbrooke Station.  He is sent to meet Kay Fischer when his best friend and lead singer, Ace Turner, fails to show up for his scheduled interview.

What results is an intense attraction.  One that Kay is leery to pursue and one that Matt will do anything for.

When Kay’s chief editor asks her to write a frontpage piece about the tension between Sherbrooke Station and Atlas records to save the paper, will Kay break her rules and her own heart in the process?

This is a refreshing and funny read that I enjoyed thoroughly.  It is not the regular bad boy rocker trope.  The story this author created feels authentic, these people and places feel real.  It inspires and gives off such a wonderful vibe.

I loved Matt.  He made me smirk and laugh at the lengths he will go to see Kay.  He is an up front, honest and sexy guy.  He completely melted my heart.

The way the main characters came together was seamless.  I also loved the secondary characters in the band and would love to read their stories.

This is an endearing read and is oh so sexy.  Recommended to anyone who loves a wonderfully written romance where you cannot help but be invested in the characters and their futures.

I received an ARC of this book.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.
